TheraPort Health
An accelerated bootcamp project where I worked with a multidisciplinary team of 6 members to create a mock business. Our project focused on providing a solution for the healthcare industry, particularly looking at how to make paramedical services accessible to clients in a virtual setting.

Challenge
Solution
As a team, we identified a lack of direct communication lines between patients and paramedical practitioners, little to no choice in selection of a desired practitioner, and limited availability of at-home treatment options.
We created a landing page design for a web application that would allow patients to browse & book appointments with desired practitioners in their local area of residence, and rate & review their services post-treatment.

Phase 1
Understand the problem
SURVEYS
As head of the design team, I worked with the digital marketer to create and distribute a short quantitative survey to respondents in the project cohort. A survey was the best option to identify our user demographics in a limited timeline. A total of 10 respondents participated in our survey.
Key Insights:
-
User demographics:
-
Ages: 20-30 & 40-60s
-
Residing in the GTA
-
Majority attending in-person visits
-
-
User pain points surrounded accessibility and choice of practitioner
INTERVIEWS
We identified another target audience which consisted of novice practitioners in search of clientele to build their experience. In order to gain insight on their experiences, I interviewed recent graduates. Due to time constraints and limited resources, I was only able to interview and analyze feedback from a total of 2 respondents.
Key Insights:
-
Distribution of insufficient wages to practitioners with clinics taking 30-40% commission per client
- Majority practitioners working part-time hours
- Self-marketing is time-consuming and expensive
Phase 2
Research potential solutions
PERSONAS
I created personas for both of our target audiences including clients and practitioners to reflect on their pain points and motivations discovered through our survey and interviews. These were used to inform on design ideas.

JOURNEY MAPPING
I created a user journey map to illustrate a potential user's journey through our platform. The team and I had the opportunity to address any gaps in our business model as it allowed us to understand our users more deeply.

WIREFRAMES
I began the design process by creating sketches of a potential layout for our landing page interface. Since we had two key target audiences, we created 2 varying interfaces; one for Clients and another for Practitioners.
MOCKUPS
The landing page design for 'Clients' promotes the availability of the consumer's desired practitioner. The landing page for 'Practitioners' is aimed at helping practitioners grow their business through the web app,.
USABILITY TESTING
One participant volunteered to evaluate our landing page design. The user navigated us through the interface of both landing pages. They voiced concern about having difficulty reading text on the original mockups.
We addressed this issue by adding white to our colour palette to balance the existing blue and green. The colour scheme was verified through a colour contrast checker to ensure it satisfied the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
Prototype
Prototype
As an add-on to strengthen the visual representation of our mock business, the web developers on our team created a rough 1.0 version responsive web application of the final landing page mockups. They deployed a live version of it on AWS infrastructure for development speed, application scalability, maintenance support and cost to performance ratio.

After an intense 2-weeks and a competitive pitch presentation, our team was among the top 5 who achieved a 90% score on its potential for impact. This experience provided me with the opportunity to adopt a leadership role where I was able to incorporate my previous experience to support a cross-functional team. Moreover, I strengthened my knowledge and process of designing for a diverse set of users.
